Welcome to Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation.

25 Years

The mission of Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF) is to help improve the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders, and their caregivers.

For 25 years, LIAF has been providing supportive community-based services to Alzheimer’s families on Long Island. LIAF takes considerable pride in its pioneering role in the development of cutting edge services that foster the independence, dignity, well-being and safety of individuals with Alzheimer’s, thus aiding in the prevention of premature nursing home placement. LIAF’s programs offer help and hope for families grappling with Alzheimer’s disease.

"My Mother Has 4 Noses"

My Mother Has 4 Noses

LIAF Executive Director Fred Jenny is flanked by Alzheimer’s Foundation of America C.E.O. Charles Fuschillo, Jr., right, and singer-songwriter Jonatha Brooke following Ms. Brooke’s performance of her one-woman Broadway musical My Mother Has 4 Noses at The Duke on 42nd Street. The Saturday, March 22 performance was a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

The New York Times calls My Mother Has 4 Noses “…achingly personal,” and says, “In a haunted and haunting play with music, Ms. Brooke is bearing witness, recounting the descent into dementia of her mother, Darren Stone Nelson, and her experience of caring for Ms. Nelson in the last years of her life.”

Fred Jenny says that for him the play is “…a heartwarming, moving, poignant and funny portrayal of a loving daughter’s caregiving journey with her mother.”

There are still tickets available for this limited Broadway run, which ends on April 13.
