long island alzheimer's foundation appoints new board chair

The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Cona, Esq., has been appointed Chair of LIAF's Board of Trustees, effective January 1, 2018. Jennifer has been an integral and energetic presence at LIAF since 2003, serving as the Board's Vice Chair. Jennifer succeeds Thomas Killeen, Esq., who served as LIAF'S Chair for two years and will continue as Vice Chair. Read more...

liaF's Transportation assists both participants and caregivers

The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) has continually offered transportation for participants who attend LIAF's Monday through Friday social adult day programs, now located in Westbury. This can be a tremendous relief to caregivers, who may not be able to drive their loved one to the center. This door-to-door, agency-owned bus transportation is available in parts of North Hempstead, and LIAF recently established a pick up and drop off point at Christopher Morley Park, at 500 Searingtown Road in Roslyn, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. liaF annouces new weekend program

Five days a week, from Monday to Friday, the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) welcomes individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, to participate in social adult day programs, featuring entertainment, word games, light exercise, crafts, and more. Now, the benefits and socialization enjoyed throughout the week continue into the weekend. LIAF is very excited to announce its new Weekend Drop Off Program, which recently kicked off on Saturday, November 4. Read more...

Collaborative Study to Explore Benefits of Alzheimer's Programs

More than 50,000 Long Islanders are currently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to rise. With the increasing need for services, the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) is partnering with Catholic Health Services (CHS) on a two-year study of the impact of LIAF's programs. LIAF's 24th Annual Golf Classic a "Tee-rific" Success!

With picture-perfect weather on June 26, the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) hosted its 24th annual Golf Classic, with golfers teeing off on the nationally-recognized A.W. Tillinghast course at the Sands Point Golf Club. At dinner that evening, the event's honoree, Bob O'Kane, Vice President of Vanguard Coverage, was recognized for his many years of supporting LIAF and for his tireless efforts toward the tremendous success of this year's golf outing. Connecting Music, Memories and Friendship at LIAF's Whimsical Wednesdays
