LIAF Announces Two New Support Groups in Port Washington

LIAF (The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation) announces two new ongoing support groups, which will meet in Port Washington on Wednesdays beginning in April 2013.

An Early-Stage Support Group, for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related form of dementia, will meet on Wednesday afternoons from 2:15pm - 3:15pm. Group participants should be aware of their diagnosis and be able to disculss feelings in a group setting. A brief meeting with the facilitator is required before attending the group for the first time. For more information, call Alana Rosenstein, LMSW at (516) 767-6856.

An Adult Children Caregiver Support Group will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. This group is for those whose parent is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related form of dementia, and provides a forum to explore feelings related to the impact of the disease. For more information, call Joan Lewis, MSW, at (516) 767-6856.

In addition to these two new groups, LIAF offers ongoing support groups for spousal caregivers, a daytime adult children support group, activity programs for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and related forms of dementia, and brain fitness classes. For more information, call (516) 767-6856.
