Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation appoints new chair

Jennifer Cona

The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Cona, Esq., has been appointed Chair of LIAF's Board of Trustees, effective January 1, 2018. Jennifer has been an integral and energetic presence at LIAF since 2003, serving as the Board's Vice Chair. Jennifer succeeds Thomas Killeen, Esq., who served as LIAF'S Chair for two years and will continue as Vice Chair.

As an Elder Law Counselor and Managing Partner at Genser Dubow Genser & Cona in Melville, Jennifer represents seniors and their loved ones with the preservation of assets, Medicaid planning, estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, administration of estates, estate litigation and guardianships. Jennifer's commitment to the community, along with her business savvy, have been recognized through the prestigious awards she has received, including the New York Times "Super Lawyers," New York Law Journal "Top Women in Law" award, Long Island Business News "Leadership in Law" and "Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business" award, Hofstra's "Outstanding Women in Law", Pulse Magazine's "Top 10 Legal Eagle" award and the Brava "Smart CEO" award, to name a few.

Jennifer's association with LIAF steadily grew since she began speaking at the organization's "Coping and Caring" Conferences. As a leader in Elder Care Law, she shares her expertise by her actions—as an involved board member and dedicated liaison between the community and available resources. Jennifer goes above and beyond with her support and involvement in every LIAF event, including her committee work for the annual Women's Luncheon and Fashion Show and as Chairperson of the Cocktails and Casino Night. We are most grateful for all that Jennifer has done, and continues to do, for LIAF.

Jennifer has demonstrated her commitment, time and again, toward looking out for the needs of older adults, including the specialized needs of individuals living with Alzheimer's and related forms of dementia. The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation is grateful for Jennifer's continual support and we are proud to serve with her as our new Board Chair. Says LIAF's Executive Director, Tori Cohen, "I am so excited for 2018 and look forward to working alongside Jennifer who is always energized and willing to go the extra mile."

"I am proud to work with the amazing and dedicated staff at LIAF who go above and beyond to provide meaningful experiences for the participants at LIAF and much needed respite for caregivers," says Jennifer. "I look forward to learning more from LIAF's families and the community to provide innovative programming and even greater services."
