Caregiver Support Groups

Support groups for caregivers are tailored to the needs and experiences of spouses, adult children and the bereaved. All groups are facilitated by licensed, Master's level social workers. These groups help reduce caregiver stress, isolation and depression, as well as providing respite from caregiving. Participants learn coping strategies and are helped to connect to community resources that can help them be more comfortable and effective in their caregiving roles. Group members have the opportunity to express their feelings, and they benefit from peer and professional support.

Caregiver Support Groups meet every other week at our center at 1025 Old Country Road in Westbury. The Adult Children group meets on Mondays and the Spouses group meets on Thursdays; both groups run from 1-2 p.m. For more information or to register for a Caregiver Support Group, please call Carissa McDermott, LMSW (ext. 11, Adult Children group) or Melissa Katz, LMSW (ext. 14, Spouses group) at (516) 767-6856.
